How Is “Enemies to Lovers” Possible?

It is easier to turn one strong feeling into another than it is to stop caring at all.

How is “enemies to lovers” even possible? It’s because hating someone means they already matter to you.

When you hate someone, they live rent-free in your head. You notice what they do, replay what they say, and dwell on them constantly. When you merely dislike someone, you barely think about them at all.

That’s why enemies can become lovers. Hatred has already done the hardest part: it made the other person matter. You care so much about them, just in the wrong way. At that point, it is probably easier to care in a different way than it is to stop caring at all.
