The best lamb skewers I’ve ever had were at the Jalan Alor street market in Kuala Lumpur. My friend had eaten at the stall earlier and remembered it, so he brought me over. A Malay bro and a Chinese uncle were cooking the skewers over charcoal.
The lamb was unbelievably tender, and the charcoal gave it that smoky flavor that makes you want another skewer before you’ve finished the first. The Malay guy was so warm when he handed them to us, too. We walked around the market, ate other things, and still came back for more lamb skewers on our way home.
